A week in Carolina Beach NC

We decided to stop by Carolina Beach and pick up a mooring to hide from a storm and with them only being $20 a night we decided to stay for a whole week.

Carolina Beach is a cute little town with a boardwalk and fun shops and restaurants. It’s also quite convenient for cruisers. The small protected harbor off the ICW has cheap moorings as well as plenty of room to anchor. There are two dinghy docks, one at the southernmost part in the harbor and one just off the mooring field.

Liam and I made the 1 mile run down to the southern dock with laundry (and walked way too far for the laundromat) but the rest of the time we were there we used the closer dock and walked down to the town. With our slow dinghy, it actually ended up faster.

The grocery store is also quite close but we probably would have used the southern dinghy dock for a grocery run.

We found the beach and the boardwalk fun as well as the cafés and one particular gelato place that mixed wine in several of their gelatos. I ended up ordering a pineapple gelato without realizing it had wine in it until we were outside. It was surprisingly good.

But after our week there we hopped back on the ICW for a few miles to do an overnight to Charleston SC.
