Provincetown is an overnight from Casco Bay, a day sail from Boston or the North Shore, and if you’re lucky with the tides you can make it through the Cape Cod Canal to (or from) Provincetown in a single day.
I absolutely love Provincetown. For several reasons but mostly because the holding is great and you can anchor and stay a month without ever worrying about dragging, the friendly folks at Capt. Jack’s Wharf, and the way my son walks taller when we are in town.

The city is dangerous in one very key respect though. Whenever possible you’ll want to leave your money on the boat.
I’m not talking about crime, no I’m talking about the shops and in particular the restaurants. Everything is so good and you risk starting the day in a cafe, stopping somewhere for lunch, and then because everything is so good you might as well have dinner somewhere that is going to have a show.

While there are wild parties of overflowing gayness there are also drag shows, comedy shows, live music, theatre, and everywhere amazing food.
It really is a dangerous place for me and my love of good food, fun drinks, and fine wine. I could easily spend $1,000+ a WEEK just on restaurants alone in PTown. Be warned. It’s a beautiful and delicious city that can get really expensive if you’re not careful. And of course, every restaurant is exceptional. No need for specific recommendations because you just can’t go wrong.

And yes I apologize for not taking photos of my food in the restaurants. I’ll do better next time. And I’ll also do better about writing about the great food we make on the boat because we also made some great things on the boat while we were in PTown.
