Low on electricity and with not so great wind we ended up motoring for most of the run from Hampton Virginia to Atlantic Highlands New Jersey.
Still it was a pleasant run, the sails were up for most of it and we made good time. I think it was about 60 hours total. Not bad for being slow going with bad wind the whole way.
Other than the speed there really wasn’t much for the passage. It was the sort of passage I like. Boring. I love boring passages, nothing to do but listen to podcasts and audio books, read, and sometimes other random things like that. Oh and drink an impressive amount of tea.
We arrived in Atlantic Highlands before lunch on Monday and anchored in our usual spot. I got a tiny bit of university work done before we made our way to shore so we could just stretch our legs.
Then back to the boat for more work and.. well.. more work.
Overall it was a short few days in Atlantic Highlands because we were on a quest to get to Provincetown Massachusetts.
On our second day there there was a zero wind day which meant that we had a day to do all of our errands, mostly involving getting fuel and water. During my second run for fuel in the dinghy Liam and I came back to find a very excited Ryan who had just received his call to the cruise ship. June 2nd would be his fly out date from Boston to Hawaii !
So we celebrated with pizza at Julios, simply the best pizza on the US East Coast.. and an epic walk to get our mail which had been sent to the CVS Store WAY up the hill.
A long walk and a good pizza lunch I was set.
Then we wrapped up our stay with a solid visit to the grocery store before heading out on Friday.
