Leaving Provincetown

We left Provincetown about 8 in the morning on Friday, turned on the motor, raise the sail, and dropped the mooring lines.

Overall it was a pleasant sail 100 nautical miles north to Casco Bay Maine.  Absolutely no drama, other than lighter winds than expected making me run the motor the whole way and us having less power than we should have.  I think I attached the throttle control incorrectly over the summer.  And in the middle of the night the alternator stopped producing power and the belt started squealing.  I’m hoping the tension arm slipped

I’ll check on both of those at some point this week.  But no rush.

We arrived at Cliff Island Maine about 1pm and picked up one of the moorings.  We’re the only boat here and are planning on being here approximately a week.  Our winter contract starts on October 15th so we’re going to wait here until then.

There was no traffic offshore and we didn’t need to dodge many lobster traps until we were in the last 8 miles or so from the mooring field.

I ended up going straight to bed after we arrived and slept until Sunday.  With Monday forecast to rain all day and our dinghy’s bilge pump disconnected we decided it was probably a good idea to leave the dinghy up with it’s drain plug out to reduce the need to manually bail out the dinghy.  So Sunday was another rest day.

And now it’s Monday with it’s day of rain.  The plan today is to do as much university work as possible so I can go to shore tomorrow and take an easy day.
