A Case of the Mondays

I got up sort of early and got in my weekly announcements for class. Planned out what I want to get done this week and then Nicole from Artha was doing an online writing workshop at 9am and I actually attended. I was able to get some writing done. Overall it invigorated me. ALTHOUGH it did drain me and so I didn’t end up doing any university work after that.

I did get the extensions done on for the new GPS antennas. And as part of the writing workshop we wrote for a few minutes on each of the 5 senses in turn. This is what I wrote about “sound”

Tap. Tap. Bang.

It’s always important to know the sounds of the boat. A change can mean a problem. Something familiar can tell you what’s happening.

Tap. Tap. Bang.

When folks row up to a boat at anchor sometimes they call out “Ahoy Neighbor” and sometimes they knock on the hull as if you’re knocking on a door.

Tap. Tap. Bang.

But today we’re not having old friends, or new friends popping over to say hi. No today we’re reminded that as great as having a hard dinghy is, especially on the Rocky Coast of Maine.. it’s not so great when the wind and tide are different. With the big boat moving in one way and the little dinghy moving in another.

Tap. Tap. Bang.

She’s banging on the side of the boat. Distracting, a reminder of how I should have done a side tie and not let her hang behind us. A reminder that two lines are better than one when tying the dingy to the boat. And a reminder of how having someone come by would be nice, a reminder of how I need to climb into that noisy little beast who keeps banging.

Perhaps it is the knocking of a friend. Reminding me to climb down and go find someone to row up to and yell out “Ahoy Neighbor”

And so I actually did. I ended up visiting all of my neighbors except for the three who had already left and one who was at work. It was good.

Then I made my way to the church for 3pm when Liam got out of work and we went grocery shopping. We took the cart instead of an Uber which saved a bunch of money which was helpful because the groceries came to $300.. Well $289.33.. It’s shocking. I’m glad that Ryan is working in a restaurant where they feed him.

Then an early bedtime since I was tired from dragging $300 worth of food up the hill and down the other side. I turned on Youtube for some sailing videos and was out in about an hour. I think I was asleep by 7pm
