I was reminded why Cumberland Island is a mandatory stop for us this spring. Such a beautiful island. We were able to do my birthday week anchored off the island and made several trips to the beach. Including a beach BBQ in our tiny stainless steel pocket stove.

Liam made soup for himself and we did some hot dogs for me.

Overall a lovely time.

We didn’t get a whole lot of time there because of some drama but every time we’re at Cumberland Island everything seems so perfect.

One thing I noticed though was the distinct lack of horses this time. I suspect it was because of the increased tourist presence. The ferry was quite full each time it came to drop folks off. We quickly found the ferry schedule and timed our trips to shore to avoid the times when the most folks would be there. I also learned that in the winter there are several days a week when there is no ferry. I think we’ll try to time our fall visit for after there are fewer folks on the island.

We did see quite a bit of deer this time, and really enjoyed out time.
