I had really been looking forward to some beach time at Cumberland Island. We’ve been lucky each time we’ve been and have had swimming weather. This time however we did not. It rained and rained and rained.

I think we made it to shore two or three times over the course of a week and finally decided that we’d move on. The decision was also fueled by our dramatically draining batteries which were really feeling the lack of sunlight. So we cut our three weeks down to one and moved just a few miles south to Fernandina Beach Florida where we picked up a mooring, enjoyed hot showers, and ordered a gas-powered generator to help us deal with the lack of November sun.
