We picked up a mooring ball at Fernandina Beach for Thanksgiving week and the week after. So much for spending three weeks at Cumberland Island not spending any money. We dropped $300 on the mooring and then promptly spent another $600 on a gas powered generator.

The generator was a nice bonus though and we were even able to use it to heat hot water and to make ice. Our battery charger however is a bit weak so it takes forever to charge the batteries from the generator but that’s okay.

We did need to make our way to Fernandina Beach though, we hadn’t anticipated just how much the boys would eat, especially when trapped on the boat with the rain. So we picked up an even bigger ham for Thanksgiving and made a big spread on the boat.

Days on the mooring kinda blured together. I could really see myself spending an entire winter there if we needed to. Although I’d rather be in St. Augustine for the community.

We’d get up, make our way to the dinghy dock, find our way to a cafe, get some work done, go do an errand, and then make our way back to the boat.

I also picked up a Microsoft GO Tablet, an older one that was only $300, but with the full version of Windows and a sim card slot I can now have a much lighter device to do my work on. I need a few bits of software that just don’t work on the iPad. I was hoping that I would be able to charge and use it off the USB but it requires too much voltage. BUT it doesn’t take as much as the big laptop so I can use it with the inverter without worry.
